About me

I grew up in rural Pembrokeshire, surrounded by fields, coastline and very little else. I have always loved making things; drawing, painting, making- and it was through my love of art that I first discovered the power of words. Despite being dyslexic, I entered a short story into a Blue Peter competition and, somewhat unbelievably, won a Blue Peter badge for it.

At fourteen, I began working in Guy Manning’s art room in Tenby, where I discovered that my fascination with art extended beyond making it; I loved talking to people about it, hearing their stories and understanding what drew them to a particular piece.

A handful of pub, café and shop jobs, alongside summer-school scholarships, eventually led me to the University of Exeter, where I studied Liberal Arts, or, as I like to describe it, a pick ’n’ mix degree. I could choose whatever caught my curiosity, moving between religion, languages, history, classics, art, film and everything in between.

It was also at Exeter that I found Her Campus, a magazine written for women, by women. I joined as a member, then was nominated as Publicity Secretary, later became Vice President, and eventually served as President in my final year, discovering how much I loved bringing people, ideas and stories together.

Earlier this year, I graduated with a First-Class degree in Liberal Arts and a Dean’s Commendation. After graduating in July, I found myself without a clear idea of what came next, so I decided not to rush the answer. Instead, I moved to Cornwall, hoping that its familiar coastline and creative communities will give me the space to keep making, and see where the next story takes me.
