EdFringe Review

In summer 2025, I joined a team of young journalists covering the Edinburugh Fringe Festival, getting involved in the energy, creativity and total chaos of the world's largest arts festival.

I wrote daily reviews of performances, working closely with editors to shape each piece for publication while learning to write quickly under tight 24hr deadlines.

Alongside reviewing for EdFringe Review I also acted as the Reviewer and Marketing Co-ordinator. In this role i explored the festival through a more visual sense, creating short form videos and street interviews that captured the candid opinions of audiences and the atmosphere of Edinburugh. I also worked directly with performers and companies to source press imagery.

Sample snap-shot: Performance Review of 'FRAT'

“FRAT bills itself as “a provocative play exploring brotherhood, masculinity and moral ambiguity” - and it more than delivers. Set in the fictional fraternity “Illustrious Beta Chi”, the play is a brutal, often sickening dissection of toxic male culture. What begins as laddish banter quickly descends into disturbing rituals, misogyny, and violence, making for one of the most horrifying theatrical experiences I’ve had at the Edinburgh Fringe.” - Esme North

Her Campus

As President of Her Campus Exeter, a student-led magazine written for women, by women, I had the opportunity to bring together my love of storytelling, creativity and community. I led the society's editorial, marketing and event teams, working alongside a group of 15 brilliant students to create a space where women could share their voices, ideas and experiences.

I shaped the strategic direction of a 14-member committee and 50+ members, while continuing to write and edit articles across a range of topics. i learned how to balance the creative with the organisational, always thinking about how we could make our content feel engaging and relevant to its audience.

Sample snap-shot: Banana Bread: The Cure for Winter Depression

“And voilà, my gorgeous, cosy queens: a loaf of banana bread, aka happiness in edible form. So, bake away the blues, eat it straight from the pan with a spoon, and remember – spring is only like 73 banana breads away.” - Esme North
